Why you'd want to live in Highland
We are a community located strategically in Northwest Indiana at the southern tip of Lake Michigan but our location doesn’t begin to tell our story. Highland offers the best of all worlds, access to house-buying jobs, spectacular education and first-class entertainment in the best small town you’re ever going to find. We are community that has been seasoned over the last century by the farmers who found our sandy soil ideal for growing cabbages, onions, pumpkins even asparagus, the vets returning from World War II who wanted a great place to get married and raise their families and the children of those hard-working residents who yearned to give their children the same kind of upbringing. An independent bunch of forward thinkers who raised more than a few eyebrows when they decided to begin the town’s Fourth of July tradition the night before with a parade that begins at dusk, we wave our flags proudly during our Third of July parade that and believe an outdoor carol sing with neighbors no matter how cold the weather is a great way to spend a few hours. Not only do we willingly take part in Hoosier Hysteria and tailgate at least once each year before a Highland High School football game, we celebrate our Little League and host world-championship ping-pong tournaments. More than anything, Highland is a community that is proud of its past and willing to work together to create a future bright with possibilities.
